Sad Panda

Ok, this is super shitty.

My family is moving to parts unknown (Dallas, TX) this November while I stay up here in Rachacha.  Pretty standard stuff, birds leaving nests and all that (quite the reverse, actually), and I am approaching it with cautious optimism.  However, that leaves me in a sore spot for finding a place to stay and learning how to support myself.  Probably gonna cut back on the hobby-related purchases for a while, so much for DE.

Here's the shitty part.  I work full time while going to school, so I have a full plate on my hands.  On top of that, this whole move thing is stressing me out like crazy.  I feel like my blood pressure is shooting through the roof some times, I get headaches and a general malaise has fallen over me.  Bad times if I'm looking for a new place to call home.  That also explains my lack of any real updates recently, sorry.

Ok, the real shitty part.  I have been enlisted to help my family move Thanksgiving weekend.  We'll be loading up a truck, driving it down, unloading and having our Turkey Day together before I fly back up here.  The problem?  I only have so many vacation days to take off of work and I am living on a very tight budget.

As a result, I will not be attending the Battle For Salvation GT.  I don't have the vacation hours, I don't have the money, and I don't have the time when I need to focus on boring stuff like finding a place to live and budgeting my money.  I'm really bummed out over it, I was so looking forward to seeing everybody there and having a fun weekend.  But it is what it is.  Life sucks, being a grown up sucks, and it makes me a sad panda.

Sorry for the disappointment, hope I can make it next year.

Pretty sure the big grin you wore every time I saw you at NOVA will find its way back soon enough; this blog cracks me up too often for it not to. Bummed I won't make BfS either; mid-life getting in the way!

hey, having to look for a place is shitty - I'm going through that right now - but you'll find something and stuff will work out in the end. Chin up!

Hey man, gutted about that news. I know what you're going through though, my dad recently emigrated to Australia. 0_o

Why not Master Craft your DE? Buy one unit/model and spend all the time until you can buy the next one painting it up? It'll take a while but it'll keep you involved in the hobby and you'll still have something to do.

Still, that sucks. =/ Hope things work out ok.

You can always catch a train down to DC and hang out with Jay, Bill, and all of us! Free crash space! Will be more than happy to host you for a weekend while mocking you constantly =P

Man, I was looking forward to seeing you at BfS. That is cool, real life trumps gamer life from time to time. Save some money, find a place to live, and enjoy the holiday season. There will be lots of tournaments to travel to in 2011. Templecon, Saint Valentines Day Massacre, and Adepticon all happen in the first 4 months.

I don't know if you'd be interested or if it's still available, but Smitty from MG was looking for a room mate a little while back

Wow, didn't know that many people cared about my emo-ness. Thanks y'all, I really appreciate it.

James, I'll take you up on that any time :P Just need to get more vaca hours and a 7 hour drive out of the way >,<

Tim, I heard that too, but I believe they got somebody to take up the space. If I see him tonight I'll ask just to be safe.

I'm a little late to hop on the sympathy bandwagon, but I feel bad for you, dude. Nothing sucks worse than having events out of your control.

Heh, I do the same thing (full-time student, full-time work) and my family moved 1000 miles away without telling me while I was in Basic Training 6 years ago.

It's not that it gets a lot easier or anything, but you learn to deal with it. I will say this- get a roommate you can trust. It ends up making a *huge* difference over time, moneywise and havingsomeone youcanhangoutwithwise.

Sorry to hear of the stressful times Jer, but I am glad to hear you're staying local.

You bring something to the local game scene that nobody else does an I appreciate that.

The good news is renting in Rochester is cheaper than most of the country and world. Take it from someone who moved to California, Australia, and back here.

LMK if you need help moving.

I hope I will still see you at Da Boyz GT.

Thanks again y'all, I appreciate it.

Blackmoor, I will be at DaBoyz. It's in my backyard, won't cost me much and I have time to switch schedules around. The Footdar won't be going anywhere til they get through my DOrks.
