Competitive-ish Daemons, 1k and 1.5k

Dafridge here:
Hey dude, this is F'ing excellent. I understand dAemons are not competitve but what I am really interested in is a 1k and 1.5k list thats gonna be competitive.
Well hey, thanks for your support.  Makes me all fuzzy inside when I can help out.

I think Daemons get a lot more potent at lower point values.  There will be less armor on the board at 1000 and 1500, therefore you'll have less to worry about.  Also, there will be a lot more space on the board so you can safely Deep Strike in.  Game plan stays the same though, run up and chew on people's faces.

1000 points
HQ
3x Tzerald w/ chariot, Bolt of Tzeentch, Breath of Chaos, Master of Sorcery
Elites
3x 5 Fiends
Troops
2x 5 Plaguebearers, Instrument of Chaos

That's 1000 points on the nose.  You only have 10 scorers, but at smaller levels that should be plenty.  Instead, all your points are spent on probably the 2 best units in the book: Chariot Tzeralds and Fiends.  Tzeralds can break tanks or go after infantry with breath and gaze, while Fiends can bounce around murdering stuff.  For wave splits, drop the Fiends and Tzeralds in separate waves with 1 PB unit in each.  This gives you insurance against poor rolling since each wave is good on its own and since they are both focused you won't have to worry about diluting your firepower/pounciness across waves.

1500 ends up similar, adding 5 more PBs, 3 Fiends, and 2 DPs into the mix.

HQ
3x Tzerald w/ chariot, Bolt of Tzeentch, Breath of Chaos, Master of Sorcery
Elites
3x 6 Fiends
Troops
3x 5 Plaguebearers, 1 Instrument
Heavy Support
2x Daemon Princes w/ Mark of Tzeentch, Bolt of Tzeentch, Breath of Chaos

1500 points here.  Same plan, drop down with tons of fast/shooty critters and munch on things.  DPs give you more bolters, relatively durable wounds, CC presence against stuff like Dreads, and more Breath.  For splits, go all shooty and all speedy/scorey.  If your shooters come in first, you can cripple mech forces (hopefully) and make life easier on your Fiends or BBQ things with super awesome flamer templates.  If the second wave comes in, stick to cover or LoS blockers and set up charges for next turn.

That's how I'd do Daemons at smaller levels, but it's not the only way.  Let me know if this is what you're looking for.  I'll be happy to whip something else up.

Yeah, in a codex that is somewhat lackluster, fiends are money. 15 fiends are hard enough to deal with in an 1850 game, much less 1000 point game.

As demons go, these are pretty solid lists, do you also play demons? I used to have a Khorne Bloodcrusher list that did alright, but ended up selling it for the money to make my guard...

I do so enjoy my Daemons. They aren't the most competitive out there, but they're just a lot of fun to play around with and I get another Fantasy army to play with too :P
