Ok, first draft of my proposed IG/Orks counts-as extravaganza.
I would really like to have Straken and I really don't want to have to buy much more, preferring to convert/repurpose what I have.
Straken is all about getting in close, so I figure a mixed mech army with emphasis on dominating midfield would suit him.
HQ
Company Command-Straken, 2 bodyguards, Astropath, 3 meltas, Chimera
Troops
Vets-3 plasma, Chimera
2x PCS-4 meltas, Chimera
2x Infantry-GL, power weapon, melta bombs, Commissar w/ power weapon
4x Infantry-GL, power weapon, melta bombs
2x HWS-3 autocannons
Fast Attack
2x Hellhound-multi-melta
Heavy Support
2x Demolisher
Total-2000
Right off the bat, this screams to you, where is the range? Beyond the 2 HWS I have nothing that operates outside of 42" (Chimera multi-lasers moving, ha!), everything is right in the 24"-30" sweet spot. I've got 2 30 strong mobs of dudes running up alongside the 4 Chimeras, 2 Hellhounds and 2 Russes. They will set up at midfield and blast away, blunt, and generally be annoying. Straken gives all those Guardsmen FC and CA, in addition to being a beefy bamf in his own right, plus the usual set of orders.
What do y'all think? Ultimately I'd like to make a fairly competitive army out of this, but most of all I want it to be a good use for the Ork/IG stuff I have. Nothing is out of the question and I'm open to suggestions (for the list or conversions).
Thanks for reading.

AN IG army the even PLAYS as Orks...
Why the Power Weapons? Big Choppas?
Power weapons so they won't totally suck in HtH. With furious charge or counter-attack going off, I can get lots of power weapon attacks off per mob.
It's like Orks, but not shitty.
I intend to use Blood Angels to do Blood Axes myself. It's even easy to find direct analogues:
-Assault Skwad: Choppa Boy
-Tac Squad: Shoota Boy
-Storm Raven: Fighta-Bomma
-Razorback: 'Skorcha-Trukk
-Dread: Dread
-Librarian Furioso: Dread with Rokkit-Boostas.
-Sanguinary Priest: Painboy.
-Techpriest: Mek.
Waaaaagggghhh!
Yep, I noted that in the OP :P
Sounds sweet, make sure to make a log or something.
